St. John’s Wort continues to work over a long period of time (no habituation).
Unlike many synthetic antidepressants Hypericum (St. John’s Wort) dosage effects will not diminish over time, so increasing dosage is not necessary to get the results you need. 29 trials published in 2008 by the nonprofit Cochrane Collaboration concluded that St. John’s Wort is equivalent to pharmaceutical anti-depressants – AND has far fewer side-effects. Hypericum, when extracted properly does not contain harmful MAO Inhibitors which are the main cause of Antidepressant overdoses. Using St. John’s Wort in conjunction with other protocols
Using St. John’s Wort herb with other synthetic solutions is not recommended, but HBC’s range of natural supplements offer an approach that works for everyone.
St. John’s Wort is herbal & gentle at first, but after about 6 weeks the effects are powerful and long-lasting. While ramping up with St. John’s Wort 5hpt is a great adjunct. 5hpt takes less than two weeks to start fully working, but if overused it can habituate, so this should be used in moderation. SAMe works very quickly and doesn’t seem to habituate but is very expensive, so this can be used in extreme cases, or in moderation as needed. DMAE works very quickly, can have you feeling focused in less than forty minutes but can also habituate in a few months so you need to take a break from that, with Piracetam for example.
All of these protocols may be taken together, at different points of the day. One option is DMAE in the morning as it is the precursor to the feel good neurotransmitter acetylcholine, SAMe in the morning is a good option as well as it is stimulating. Subtle St. John’s wort may be taken at various points during the day, then 5htp and L-tryptophan for the evening as it promotes nice deep sleep.
