DJ AM battled depression, drug addiction during his final days

Hollywood’s favorite celebrity club scene whiz DJ AM who managed to survive an airplane crash just last year, and died on August 28 was battleing depression, a drug habit and broken heart. During his final days, he became reclusive and his friends couldn’t get a hold of him. After a concerned buddy called the police he was found dead, shirtless in his swanky SoHo apartment in New York City surrounded by a crack pipe and prescription bottles.

DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), dated famous Hollywood wild child Nicole Richie and America’s sweetheart Mandy Moore, but most recently, he’d been linked to model Hayley Wood and their recent break up had taken a toll on him.

Just last year, Adam had survived a plane crash with his friend Travis Barker (of Blink-182 fame) but the survival left him troubled since four others died. “There’s no reason why I should have lived or I lived and they didn’t, and it’s something I struggle with every day,” he told People magazine.
